Quetta Suicide Blast on Sariab Road Leaves 13 Dead, Several Injured
At least 13 people were killed and several others injured in a suspected suicide blast near Shahwani Stadium on Quetta’s Sariab Road. Authorities launch a high-level probe into the deadly attack.
Deadly Explosion Rocks Quetta’s Sariab Road
A suspected suicide attack in Quetta late Tuesday left at least 13 people dead and more than a dozen others injured, according to hospital officials. The explosion ripped through the busy Sariab Road area, close to Shahwani Stadium, shaking the provincial capital and plunging families into grief.
Doctors at Civil Hospital Quetta confirmed the casualties. “Five of the injured are in critical condition,” said Dr. Hadi Kakar, the hospital’s medical superintendent.
CTD Confirms Suicide Blast Suspicions
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) reported that the explosion appeared to be a suicide bombing, adding that teams are collecting evidence from the scene. Security personnel have cordoned off the area while investigators examine forensic material.
Chief Minister Vows Stern Action
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned the blast, calling it a “cowardly attack on innocent citizens.” He stressed that those behind the bombing were enemies of humanity determined to spread fear among the people of Balochistan.
“We will crush their nefarious designs,” Bugti vowed, promising that the attackers would be hunted down. He also directed hospitals to remain on high alert, warning that “no negligence will be tolerated.”
A high-level inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the incident, with orders to submit findings swiftly.
Surge in Terror Attacks Across Pakistan
The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) reported that Pakistan recorded 78 terrorist attacks in June 2025, resulting in over 100 deaths and nearly 190 injuries. Among the victims were civilians, security forces, and members of peace committees.
Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) remain the hardest-hit regions. Security forces recently launched operations in Bajaur and Zhob, gunning down dozens of militants allegedly backed from across the Afghan border.

Government’s Response and Security Operations
Authorities confirmed that security forces and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) are conducting targeted operations to dismantle militant hideouts. Earlier this month, forces intercepted an infiltration attempt in Balochistan’s Zhob district, neutralizing 47 militants.
The federal and provincial governments have reiterated their commitment to protecting citizens, insisting that violence will not derail peace efforts in Balochistan.
Conclusion
The Quetta blast is another grim reminder of the challenges Pakistan faces in its fight against terrorism. With heightened operations and intelligence-based actions, the government aims to restore peace while ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable.
